The second episode of the third Season of Breaking Bad, titled Caballo sin nombre (certainly inspired by the hit A Horse with no Name), has just been aired and managed to amaze the fans of the series.
Breaking Bad Season 3 Episode 2 begins with Walt singing and driving just to be pulled over by a cop for a broken windshield. Somehow, a fight starts and Walt ends up in the cop car. From IMDB:
Hank debriefs his team on the burnt-up truck that left nine illegals dead. He pulled the case from border patrol, wondering why they had “Juarez-style action” on their side of the border. “Maybe one of those extra crispys knew something he shouldn’t.” Gomez told Hank it had been 29 days since they’d since the famous meth. Hank took a phone call from local police.
Jesse drove with his “45 days” tag hanging from his rear-view mirror. He pulled up to his dad’s house, learning it was remodeling it and selling it. Jesse wanted to check it out, but his dad resisted, telling him to look at pictures on the Web site. He said Jesse was “looking healthy,” and they awkwardly said Jesse should come over for dinner some time.
Walter sat in jail and was asked to apologize for the officer who arrested him. Hank got him out. Walter told Hank “she’s divorcing me.” To which Walter said, “It is what it is.” Walter told Hank Skyler didn’t want him to see the kids.
Saul tried to convince Walter that Skyler was bluffing and that everyone else — including Skyler and Hank and the kids — would be worse off if she told the cops about Walter’s drug manufacturing. Walter said it wasn’t about the cops, it was about him having lost everything, including his family. Saul told Walter there were “other fish in the sea,” suggesting he could find a woman from Thailand or the Czech Republic who’d be grateful to be in America. He suggested Walter get back to what he does best, and “get cookin’.”
“I can’t be the bad guy,” Walter said.
An older man sat on a was at a playground with his granddaughter when he got a call saying there might be “a wife problem” and he wrote down an address.
Walter Jr. was not speaking to Skyler, who told him Hank and Marie were coming over with take-out for dinner. That night, Walter Jr. yelled at Skyler for not loving Walter anymore. He asked her “Why do you have to be such … a bitch?” He left.
Hank said, “I know it’s none of my business, but…” and asked Skyler why she didn’t want Walter seeing the kids. She said he was right — it wasn’t any of his business. As they left, Marie was trying to figure out the divorce, but Hank said he’d “seen it a million times.” He figured Walter cheated on Skyler because the math “only adds up one way.” Marie wasn’t so sure. She thought Skyler would have told her something like that. “It just feels like something more,” she said.
Jesse went to visit Saul, who was complaining about Walter. Jesse pulled piles of cash out of bag and asked Saul if he wanted a job.
Walter returned to his miserable motel room and stopped at the pool to scoop up a bloody band-aid. He saw Walter Jr. sitting at his door.
Cut to an old-folks’ home where seniors were playing cards and putting puzzles together. Our two mysterious bald men with skull-tipped boots walked in an old man gave them a subtle nod. They pulled out a Ouija board and the man, unable to speak, rang a bell as they spelled something out. With each ring of the bell, they wrote down a letter. Finally, they showed him what they’d written: “Walter White.” He rang the bell furiously.
Skyler was at work and thanked Ted for being flexible about her schedule. Then she told him she couldn’t sign off on some quarterly accounting records. She said if he was going to “do this” (tax fraud) it couldn’t be so clear. She pointed out what she was talking about and he set about fixing the records. She asked him what he’d tell his kids if they found out what he was doing, and he said he hadn’t thought that far ahead, but would tell them everything he did was in an effort to provide for them.
Walter called Skyler to tell her Walter Jr. showed up. Walter said he’d bring the boy back home, and he tried to explain to Walter Jr. that Skyler had “her reasons” for keeping them separated. Walter urged his son to try to stay positive.
Saul met with Jesse’s parents, saying he represented someone who wanted to buy their house with cash. The only hangup was the price. The asking price was $875,000 and Saul offered $400,000. It was the final offer, and Jesse’s parents walked out. Before they left, though, Saul brought up the meth lab that wasn’t mentioned in any of the paperwork. “Some would call that fraud,” Saul told them. He said he could file a suit and encumber the property indefinitely and start some criminal proceedings, “but I don’t think any of us would want that.” He asked their lawyer if he concurred.
Walter showed up at the house with a massive pizza and Walter Jr. in tow. Skyler said she was making dinner. Walter asked if they could just eat some pizza together, but Skyler said they’d already discussed everything there was to discuss and closed the door in his face. Walter walked away and tossed the pizza onto the roof of the house before driving off.
We next saw Walker laying face-down on his motel room floor, with popcorn scattered all around. Skyler called and left a message about the pizza on the roof. She told him to keep his distance and threatened to get a restraining order. He got up and yelled at the phone after she’d already hung up. He put his pants on.
In front of their house, Jesse’s parents lamented having broken even on their house. That’s when Jesse drove up and his dad muttered to his wife, “This is all we needed.” Jesse said hello and walked toward the house. His mom told him the house had been sold and the new owners were expected any moment. He rattled the keys in their faces and told them he bought the place. He stepped in and closed the door behind him.
The older man from the playground watched Skyler and Walter Jr. leave their house the next morning, then he got out of his car, unloaded a small bag and a small box and walked toward the house. He noticed the pizza on the roof, then headed into the backyard. He drilled some holes in the back wall of the house, apparently planting a bug.
Meanwhile, Walter showed up at the house and discovered his keys no longer worked. The other man worked on some wires and heard Walter hit the front door in frustration. Walter tried to find a window he could open. Finally, he went into the crawl space under the house as the other man hid. Walter popped a floor board open and made it into the house.
The other man left and sat in his car as he watched another car roll up to the house. It was the two bald men with the skull-toed boots. They went inside and Walter was in the shower. One of them carried an ax.
The man who’d bugged the house made a phone call and told the person on the other line there was something he should know about. The man who answered the phone took the phone to Gus and whispered something into his ear.
The two bald men sat on a bed and listened as Walter wrapped up his shower. They waited and one of them received a text message that said, “Pollos.” They looked at each other.
Walter got out of the shower, opened the bathroom door and the two men were gone. Walter noticed something was amiss, and looked around the house. He found nothing.
The next episode of Breaking Bad (Season 3, Episode 3) will be titled I.F.T. and aired on April 4th
