UK magazine Daily Mall had a really nice article today about a topic that should matter for us all: children and asthma. A recent discovery showed that at least 50% of the kids with an irritating skin rash eczema will later develop asthma.
It is obvious, therefore, that this eczema and asthma are connected, but now doctors believe they might be able to at least reduce the frequency of that happening, after finding a link between the two conditions: they found out that, when kids develop the eczema, a substance is secreted by the damaged skin and starts flooding the body, triggering asthmatic symptoms (when the “infected” blood reaches the lungs).
Now, all the doctors have to do is to find a way to stop that problematic skin with the eczema to produce that substance and the problem would be solved. However, even though this discovery has been made now and it gives doctors worldwide hope, it is still unsure when or if they will be able to find that way of preventing the skin from producing the asthma-inducing substance. Let’s hope for the best!
