We should stick to football, basketball, baseball and even hockey, but we should forget soccer, that’s obvious, since we simply can’t do it. The US national team was beaten badly last night by Costa Rica who recorded a 3-1 victory in the World Cup 2010 qualifying stages. And the score could’ve been worse if Tim Howard, the US goalkeeper wouldn’t have had a great night (unlike the other players).
Things started to look bad for the USA immediately after the match started, with the first goal being scored only 1 and a half minute after the match started. The USA vs Costa Rica soccer match then went to 2-0 for the Ticos before the USA players even took a shot! And that, no matter how you put it, is embarrassing, especially since Costa Rica is not one of the countries considered great when it comes to soccer…
“You don’t necessarily need me to tell you that was garbage,” former U.S. international Alexi Lalas told viewers on ESPN2. “That wasn’t the turf, that wasn’t the crowd, that was just bad soccer.”
An indeed bad soccer that was! Hopefully the USA team will manage to get themselves together – maybe even convince Freddy Adu, the wonderkid, play as well as he can, and maybe hope to quality for the 2010 World Cup. But maybe that’s just a dream… a nice dream, though.
