How to Get Rid of Heat Cramps
- With 1 comment
It’s getting hotter and hotter out there and you probably find it a good time to start exercising heavily in order to lose all that weight you’ve put on during the winter (or you’re simply exercising because you like to). However, this could cause some health problems – nothing bad, though, if treated accordingly and not ignored. I’m talking about heat cramps.
So – how to get rid of heat cramps, you might wonder? Well, nothing easier: try to rest and cool down a little (as I said, heat cramps usually kick off in hot environments, during exercising). Also, hydrating your body would be a great idea, so drink some water or an electrolyte sports drink, if you don’t have fresh water. Massage the affected muscle group (it might be the calves, arms, abdomen or back) and do some light stretching exercises. Do not try to force yourself, you won’t achieve anything!
If your cramps don’t go away after an hour, even though you tried the suggestions above, call your doctor. It’s better to be safe, and next time take it easy with the exercising!
