How to Install Windows 7?
- With 0 comments
Now that we’ve done it and learned how to uninstall Windows Vista, it is time to find out how to upgrade and install Windows 7. We will be showing you a tutorial on installing Windows 7 as a dual boot (meaning that you will still have another operating system running – XP or Vista, for example) and we won’t actually format ANY data. This means that this tutorial will teach you how to install Windows 7 without losing any files from your computer.
However, it would still be wise to back-up any important data you might have stored on your computer since one can never know when a wrong button is pressed and ruins the whole thing (this will probably never happen, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry!).
Back to the tutorial, here is how to install Windows 7:
1. Make sure you meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 7 (1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor, at least 1GB RAM, 16 GB available hard disk space, DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0).
2. Create a new partition for Windows 7. I would suggest creating a 20GB partition (or even bigger if you have the free space). If you don’t know how to create a partition, click here for a tutorial for creating a partition in Windows XP or click here for instructions in Windows Vista.
3. Insert the Windows 7 disc in your disc drive and reboot your computer (usually, the BIOS is set up to initially boot up from CD/DVD, but if you changed that you might wish to change it back). After the computer restarts, simply follow the instructions on the screen to install the new operating system. However, extreme caution is needed:
!!!Make sure that you select the “Custom” installation of Windows 7 and pick up the correct partition you have created (if you select the wrong one here you might permanently delete content from your HDD!)
Then prepare for a relatively long wait before you’ll be able to experience the new Windows 7! I know I totally loved it!
