Today, after a lot of customization and hard work, plus the regular unforeseen problems, I am glad to announce that Everything Mixed now has a fresh new theme – a very clear, clean and light one! As you can see, this theme I have opted for represents a huge change compared to the previous dark one, but I like it. It wasn’t asked for and it was a change made in a hurry, but now I am really happy with the results.
I had to change Everything Mixed’s theme because the WordPress update to version 2.8 caused some strange problems that were apparently caused by AdSense Manager, a great plug in I was using to provide the Google AdSense advertising on this blog. However, it was either the plug in or the blog’s functionality, so I had to say goodbye to Adsense Manager and change the theme.
I have basically went for this theme for a few various reasons: first of all, it is a more “blog-friendly” type of theme, instead of the heavy magazine template I was using before. And since I couldn’t update this blog as often as I wanted (sometimes with just one article per day) I considered that it would be better to have it in a blog format.
Of course, it is now a bit more difficult to navigate and stay up to date with all the categories and posts, but in the long run I hope it will be OK. Especially since this theme, as you can see, is one heavily optimized for generating income (which I hope it will do, at least as good as the previous one), and it doesn’t feature any intrusive in-post advertising, which were certainly very upsetting in my previous theme.
Now all I have to do is keep on working and bring up the good stories so that the public becomes more interested in my blog, and the number of reads increases. It’s a long journey ahead, but I think that this first small step I have made now is a very good one!
