As the Winter Olympics continue to amaze us all, the women figure-skate contest is by far one of the fan’s favorite events. One of the most talked about sportswomen is Yu Na Kim, the famous South Korean figure skater who amazed us all in the past year.

The young skater, aged just 19, certainly feels the pressure mounting up as she’s anticipated to become the winner of the gold medal during the Olympics. She has an impressive trophy list for her young age, being crowned three times the champion in Grand Prix Final Champion, World Champion, Junior Grand Prix Final Champion, World Junior Champion, and four times South Korean National Champion in 2006-2007, 2007-2008 and 2009-2010, 2009, 2005-2006, 2002-2005 respectively.

Yu Na Kim feels the pressure of public expectations and even her coach warns that the Olympic Games can produce surprises and even the favorites can sometime lose. For the fans of the 19-years-old figure skater, we hope it doesn’t happen.

Kim landed her first triple jump at the age of 10, and at 12, she could use five triple jumps in her figure skating program. When Kim was 14 years old, she landed her first triple-triple combination jump at the 2005 World Junior Championships. Kim has executed three different triple-triple combination jumps in competitions: a triple lutz-triple toe loop, a triple flip-triple toe loop, and a triple toe loop-triple toe loop. Kim can also execute a triple lutz-double toe loop-double loop jump combination.

One of Kim’s signature moves is her bent-leg layover camel spin, frequently called the Yu-Na spin. Her other signature move is a layback ina bauer that she leads directly into a double axel jump, to a double axel-triple toe loop jump combination or to a double axel-double toe loop-double loop jump combination.
