Fans of both the X-Men series and the beautiful and talented Jennifer Lawrence will be really sad to hear that the actress confirmed that she will no longer be part of the X-Men after the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, set to launch in 2016.
Jennifer Lawrence plays shapeshifting mutant Mystique in the X-Men series ever since it debuted in 2011, but rumor has it that she’s no longer interested in playing second fiddle to James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender – she’s an Oscar winning actress and apparently there’s nothing but leading roles that she wants. Which is not a good thing, because a great actor remains a great actor no matter how much screen time he or she gets. But others might disagree…
Back to today’s news, it was Jennifer Lawrence herself who confirmed she will no longer be an X-Men:
“It is my last one, actually,” she told MTV, with no further elaboration, but we’ve already told you about the speculations and the most likely reasons.
There were rumors in the past about a Mystique spin-off that would give Jennifer Lawrence the screen time she wants, but it appears that the project has also gone down the drain since she doesn’t want to be part of the main series anyways…
Jennifer Lawrence first appeared in 2011’s X-Men: First Class as Mystique, but since then her career sky rocketed with her gaining extreme popularity following her roles in Hunger Games and Oscar win for Silver Linings Playbook, as well as some leaked photos that tickled the pleasure spots of her fans worldwide, with images showing that she can take more than just make-up on her face.
Following her raise to fame, the Mystique actress apparently wanted more screen time and even though that was bulked up for last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past – and most likely for Apocalypse as well – she still doesn’t have enough. Or maybe she’s just getting really bored with waiting a ton of time for all that make-up to be applied.
Either way, one thing is clear: X-Men Apocalypse will be the last X-Men movie for Jennifer Lawrence and I am sure that many people will consider this as a great loss.
