Best Organic Coffee in 2026: Delicious & Refreshing

My day doesn’t officially begin until that first cup is in my hand, and I’m willing to bet yours doesn’t either. And if you want it to begin in the best possible way, you must treat yourself with the best organic coffee out there.

Today, I am here to help make that choice a lot easier: I’ve done the taste-testing, I left away the really bad options and only focused on the absolute best. That’s what you’re getting: the top organic coffee you should drink this year.

We’re talking about fair trade coffee with excellent taste, all grown organically. There are so many delicious flavors and high quality coffee brands out there that we can never really complain about diversity.

But even if you already have a favorite, you still owe it to yourself to try new things and hopefully get an even better coffee to start your days with, to keep you awake and to delight your senses.

After years of brewing, comparing, and happily burning through more bags of beans than I can count, here’s my top recommendation: Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Sumatra Reserve. You can get it either as K-Cup Pods or ground coffee. I am sure you will love it!

Organic coffee is a great choice if you want only the best for you and your family. It is grown in safe environments and considered healthier than regular coffee. Plus, for some reason, I always found organic coffee to have a better flavor – it’s richer, tastier, stronger. It’s simply better!

But if you’re here for the caffeine punch, let’s jump right in and check out the best organic coffee you’ll ever taste!

1. Green Mountain Coffee: Sumatran Reserve

Green Mountain Sumatra Coffee

It’s almost cliché to have Green Mountain Coffee on a “Best coffee” list, but the truth is that we’re dealing here with an amazingly delicious coffee with an unique flavor.

This is the only coffee on my list that comes in K-cups form for those who are in a big hurry – or just fans of the Keurig machines.

While I prefer to go the traditional brewing methods when it comes to making coffee, I can understand those who don’t. And they have an amazing option here.

(Plus, I’ll also share a link to get a bag of ground coffee instead, if you don’t use a K-Cup compatible coffee maker.)

This is a coffee with great character coming from Sumatra, an island in Indonesia and the sixth largest in the world.

This organic coffee grown there is offering a sweet palate of brown sugar and spice notes: deeply roasted to perfection, this coffee is extremely strong and packs quite a punch in the morning. You’ll love it if you are all in for stronger flavors and Arabica coffee.

2. The Organic Coffee Co – Breakfast Blend

The Organic Coffee Co. Breakfast Blend

Coming from South and Central America (mostly from Panama), the Breakfast Blend is perfect if you want a light roast coffee with plenty of personality: smooth, balanced, and very easy to love.

I can only describe it as delicious to perfection. Not too dark, but dark enough that you know you’re drinking coffee.

It’s lighter than the very dark roasted coffees, so those preferring the strong, bitter taste, might not put it high on their list.

But it’s delicious, it has a great flavor and I personally consider it perfect for my early morning coffee during the weekends.

The good news is that there’s also a K-Cup compatible version, so I will link to that as well in case you prefer it.

If you want the K-Cup pods, you can get them here.

3. Death Wish Ground Coffee

Death Wish Coffee Organic Dark Roast

The name tells you exactly what you’re signing up for: Death Wish is one of the strongest coffees out there, and after brewing it more mornings than I can count, I can tell you that a cup of this carries roughly double the caffeine of your average brew.

That kick comes from a smartly selected blend roasted dark, and it shows in the flavor. Dark, rich, bold and extremely flavorful, with cherry and dark chocolate notes that the roaster calls out on the bag.

I pick up more of the chocolate than the cherry, and I’ll admit there’s a slight bitterness that comes with it. But that’s something many people appreciate.

Definitely a brand that you have to try at least once (which also comes in K-Cup form).

If you prefer the K-Cups, you can get them here.

4. Kicking Horse Coffee – Hola

Kicking Horse Coffee

Here’s my more recent discovery, and the one that surprised me most: Hola from Kicking Horse, a roaster based in the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia. It’s a charming, surprising coffee that I fell in love with irrevocably.

Hola is a light roast, and it’s truly delicious: smooth and savory, full of the bright, aromatic flavors that lighter beans keep intact, with enough personality to keep things interesting.

Don’t let the friendly profile fool you, though. There’s a solid kick of caffeine in every cup, so it will absolutely get you moving.

And if you prefer darker roasts, the same brand has various options available, so make sure you check this out!

5. Best Decaf Organic Coffee: Jeremiah’s Pick

Jeremiahs Pick Organic Decaf Coffee

If you prefer decaffeinated coffee instead (or you just want to mix and match them to keep your caffeine intake low), I have a real treat for you: this decaf coffee is decaffeinated by a chemical-free Swiss Water process, making sure that you not only get the best possible taste, but also the healthiest option out there when it comes to decaffeinated coffee.

I only recently learned that the decaffeinating process can be a chemical soaking that makes this otherwise healthy beverage into a chemical-packed drink, but the water processing is the safest option out there, followed closely by the carbon dioxide method.

But enough chemistry! Let’s talk coffee – and in particular Jeremiah’s Pick Decaf Organic.

It tastes wonderful, a mixture of caramel and dark chocolate with bittersweet intensity – not too bitter, but not too light either.

A great choice and many people I know to whom I recommended this decaf coffee have switched entirely to drinking it (and loving it!) as you can’t really tell that it’s not fully caffeinated – that’s how flavorful and good it is!

If you want even more options, we have a separate list of the best decaf organic coffee here.

How I Chose These Coffees

My kitchen counter has seen a lot of bags come and go, but I don’t complain about it at all – on the contrary, it was one of the most pleasant experiments that I ever ran. Plus, I keep trying and testing constantly, so this list is in continuous evolution.

But to make it on the list, the coffees had to meet a few important criteria:

  • Certified organic. Every coffee here has organic certification, and most are fair trade certified too. No vague “naturally grown” marketing allowed.
  • Tasted by me, repeatedly. Nothing earns a spot off the packaging alone. Each one won me over over multiple mornings of brewing and I would go as far as saying that I would have nothing against drinking any one on my list above for the rest of my life.
  • A roast for every taste. Light, medium, dark, extra dark, and a proper decaf, so there’s something here however you take your coffee.
  • Consistent and available. All five are widely sold in the US (and probably the world), are reasonably priced, and backed by thousands of positive reviews that confirm what I taste at home.

Conclusion

So there you have them – four delicious and amazing organic coffee brands to try out in 2026, plus what I consider the best decaf organic coffee out there.

It’s difficult to pick just one winner for the caffeinated ones, so why not get one of each and tell us which is your favorite in the comments section below!

  1. Is it my imagination or is the latest Green Mountain Sumatran Reserve more lightly roasted than before? The label has changed, and is now green instead of brown. I hope I just got a bad batch.

    • Maybe it’s a different thing? The green K-Cups are usually labeled “extra bold” but should be a bit… well… bloder and better roasted. Maybe you just got a bad batch or not what you used to usually order.
