We all like to eat, but some people really have a problem with that. Add to the pleasure of eating some other health problems and you have the perfect recipe for a super-sized body.
And it happened and will probably happen more and more in the future with this unhealthy lifestyle that we’re living. But only a few were the heaviest in history and nobody wants to break these records.
Therefore, I show you in this article the top 5 heaviest people in the world – most of them killed by what made them famous. Because being morbidly obese is a huge health risk – a life threatening one!
1. Jon Brower Minnoch
- Peak Weight: 1,400 lbs (635 kg)
- Nationality: American
- Lifespan: 1941 to 1983
Here we have the official Guinness World Record holder for the heaviest human being in recorded history. Jon Brower Minnoch reached an estimated peak weight of 1,400 lbs.
I researched his medical background and learned that a massive portion of his weight was actually retained fluid.
His condition was a severe form of generalized edema. At one specific point, doctors estimated he was carrying over 900 lbs of excess liquid alone. Medical teams managed to help him lose an incredible amount of weight during long hospital stays.
But his body simply could not process fluids normally. He passed away at age 41. I view his life as a stark reminder of how powerful and devastating underlying metabolic disorders can be.

2. Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari
- Peak Weight: 1,345 lbs (610 kg)
- Nationality: Saudi Arabian
- Lifespan: 1991 to Present
This case stands as a prime example of massive medical intervention. Khalid reached an astonishing 1,345 lbs by his early twenties. His situation was so severe that the late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia personally intervened in his care.
The King ordered Khalid to be airlifted directly to the capital for urgent medical treatment in 2013. And the results were spectacular.
Through surgery and intense physical therapy, Khalid lost over 1,100 lbs. I consider his transformation to be one of the most remarkable medical feats ever recorded. He is alive today and completely transformed.
3. Manuel Uribe
- Peak Weight: 1,320 lbs (597 kg)
- Nationality: Mexican
- Lifespan: 1965 to 2014
After reaching his peak weight of 1,320 lb, Manuel was convinced to start losing weight. He refused gastric bypass initially. He was sure that he could do this all by himself and apparently he was right for quite a while.
Manuel managed to drop his weight down to around 440 lb. I felt very hopeful reading about his early progress. He certainly planned to go even lower.
But years of carrying extreme weight took a heavy toll on his internal organs. He sadly passed away in 2014 from liver and cardiac complications.

4. Juan Pedro Franco
- Peak Weight: 1,312 lbs (595 kg)
- Nationality: Mexican
- Lifespan: 1984 to Present
I am always amazed by true stories of recovery. Juan Pedro Franco holds a Guinness World Record for the heaviest person alive at one point in time.
He reached a peak weight of 1,312 lbs. A childhood accident left him bedridden, and his weight completely spiraled out of control.
But he decided to fight for his life and seek help. Juan underwent multiple surgeries and followed strict medical guidance. He successfully lost over 700 lbs.
I love seeing this level of dedication. He is alive today and continues to fight for his long-term health.
5. Carol Yager
- Peak Weight: 1,189 lbs medically documented (unverified peak of 1,600 lbs)
- Nationality: American
- Lifespan: 1960 to 1994
I find Carol’s story incredibly tragic. She was once considered the heaviest person in history. Carol weighed around 1,189 lbs at her medically documented peak. Some unverified reports suggest she reached well over 1,600 lb.
I read that she suffered from severe bacterial infections and massive fluid retention. Her total immobility made medical treatment incredibly difficult. She died at just 34 of kidney failure.
I believe her case highlights the immediate dangers of rapid weight gain combined with systemic infections.

Wrapping Up
I look at these extreme cases and realize that the human body is capable of both profound failure and stunning resilience.
It is easy to look at a list like this and see only numbers on a scale (or criticize the people behind these numbers). But behind every record lies a complex medical reality that might go deeper than a simple lifestyle choice… and for those who managed to turn things around, the success is even more impressive.
Overeating it is harmful does great harm this does not mean that this evil eating , unlike okay to eat well or eat well but what is bad is overeating that is harmful fat and obesity are bad they are not at all healthy and I say I do not say many medical professionals …
